My name is Paul and I created this blog to document my experiences on the government "Work Programme".
This programme has various private providers who are contracted to help unemployed people back into work. My provider is 'Avanta', who are the focus of my posts.
I would encourage readers to look at 'Avanta' as just one example of how badly these programmes are run. I.e. they are not the only provider operating in the ways I describe.
It is the view of myself, and thousands of others, that these programmes are a waste of the tax payer's money, and counter-effective to what they actually propose to achieve. No new jobs are created to put the unemployed into, and the companies tasked with providing these 'back to work' services do not provide any benefit close to justifying the funding they receive.
